This June GROW Nebraska Women’s Business Center (GNWBC) has the honor of partnering with The Service Learning Academy (SLA) of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) for the SECOND time! SLA & GNWBC have collaborated with Doctor Lei Guo’s summer journalism class to produce three vital marketing components for some of GNWBC’s selected clients!
The SLA’s vision is to create university-wide partnerships by integrating academic learning and civic engagement to develop innovative service learning courses, research, and scholarship with diverse community stakeholders. We asked Lei Gou how will this program impact entrepreneurs, her response was “This program will definitely increase media exposure of all entrepreneurs involved in this project since students’ feature stories will be published on our local media platforms.”
Each business owner participating in this program will be working with a group of students from Dr. Guo’s class to produce three vital marketing components for their business. This program will consist of the following: a featured article, that will be published in the Omaha Star, a press release about a product launch or an event of choice, and a promotional flyer about the business! When asked, what makes this project so important, Eden Butler states “I cannot stress enough how important a solid marketing plan is for business owners, and this partnership allows both entrepreneurs and students to educate themselves and put their businesses on the map!”
The featured businesses GNWBC & SLA have decided to work with on this summer project are:
Ebony2Ivory Beauty Supply Store (Tammy Bitting)
Happy Mango Bakery (Megan Shonka)
Boston School of Cosmetology (Brooke Boston)
