Each February, Black History Month serves as both a celebration and a powerful reminder that Black history is American history. BHM was officially recognized in 1976, creating the needed focus and attention on the important contributions of African Americans in the United States; such as Madam CJ Walker who was not only an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political and social activist, but the FIRST woman in history to be a self-made millionaire.
Grow Nebraska Women’s Business Center honors Black History Month, by making our first session of Business Plan: Snap & Boost 2023 in February. Business Plan: Snap and Boost is a 6-week training program every Tuesday evening, designed to provide insight to both new entrepreneurs and small business owners who need access to the necessary fundamental business knowledge. Since opening Snap & Boost applications on January 12th, GNWBC was forced to close both Session 1 & 2 applications earlier than expected because of the overwhelming community response and limited space. Both of our first two sessions are full and can’t accept anymore applicants. Since Session 3 will be offered in 100% Spanish, and you’re still interested in joining this training program, make sure to apply NOW to attend Session 4!
Aside from Snap & Boost, GNWBC has partnered with several organizations to offer several training series on a variety of topics, such as: Government Contracting, Marketing, Finance, and Legal. We encourage you to keep an eye on our calendar and social media for dates and times to register for these upcoming events. You will also be sent these dates in our upcoming Monthly Newsletters.
The GNWBC asks our community to honor and celebrate Black History Month and the many important roles of activists and civil right leaders like Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Marcus Garvey, James Baldwin, and so many others in our country. United we Stand! Happy Black History Month.
