Gwladys Nare is an entrepreneur whose journey blends culture, care, and creativity. As the founder of Edutain Childcare and Good Life Event LLC, she is building a dynamic career rooted in community impact. From nurturing young children through culturally enriched learning to organizing vibrant fashion shows that celebrate West African heritage, Gwladys is a powerful example of what it means to lead with purpose and passion.
A Bilingual Childcare Model Rooted in Culture
Gwladys runs an in-home daycare that offers far more than basic childcare. Edutain Childcare—a name combining “education” and “entertainment”—focuses on holistic, play-based learning infused with cultural richness. Children receive French language instruction, learn African dance, enjoy diverse cuisine, and engage in creative arts and nature walks.
Her background is equally compelling. A U.S. Army veteran and former dental assistant on a military base, Gwladys was motivated to start her own daycare after struggling to find nurturing, nutritious care for her own son. Now licensed to care for up to 10 children, she currently serves four, primarily between the ages of 3 months and 3 years. Her daycare has a 5-star rating on Google, a testament to her commitment and care.
From Edutain to the Runway
Beyond childcare, Gwladys has stepped into event planning with remarkable flair. In June, she organized a children’s fashion show spotlighting West African designs—an event that blended culture, creativity, and community engagement. Gwladys mentions that she’s already planning for the 2026 fashion show that will feature new clothing from the same designer and may include a singer from West Africa.
Building on the success of this event, Gwladys recently launched a second business, Good Life Event LLC, dedicated to organizing culturally inspired events. A contact at Grow Nebraska Business encouraged her to explore professional event planning, recognizing her natural talent and passion for bringing people together through thoughtful, well-executed gatherings.
Support Systems and Strategic Growth
Gwladys credits much of her momentum to the support of the Grow Nebraska Women’s Business Center, which connected her to the “Snap and Boost” program and several providers at the weekly B.A.I.L. hours. Gwladys is also a grant recipient and she used those funds for daycare essentials like playground equipment and art supplies. The support has enabled her to focus on creating a safe, enriching, and joyful space for children.
Looking ahead, Gwladys hopes to open a larger childcare center in the next five to ten years, extending her model of culturally inclusive care to even more families.
Food, Family, and Cultural Pride
In sharing her experiences, Gwladys highlighted the unique aspects of her care philosophy, including her focus on cultural food. She spoke fondly of how children often prefer her home-cooked meals, especially her classic dish: West African jollof rice, and how this has occasionally challenged parents to meet those same high culinary expectations at home.
Her passion for teaching, culture, and connection runs deep. Whether through language instruction, shared meals, or the joy of seeing a child master a new skill, Gwladys’s dual ventures—childcare and event planning—both reflect her drive to uplift her community through education, expression, and empowerment.
