Where Technology Meets Community: The UTeachOn Academy Journey

By. Megan Norton-Newbanks

When Sana and her husband Hussain co-founded UTeachOn Academy three years ago, they set out to build more than a technical training and consulting business. They aimed to create a place where education, opportunity, and community could grow together. Today, their Omaha-based company offers IT consulting, software development, cloud services, and accessible educational programs that equip learners with real-world technical experience.

Blending Technical and Business Strengths to Build a Legacy

The creation of UTeachOn Academy grew from the couple’s shared desire for financial stability and meaningful impact. Hussain contributes extensive expertise in IT infrastructure, custom software development, and cloud technology. Sana brings strength in business strategy, operations, finance, and marketing. Their combined skill sets formed a powerful partnership that allows UTeachOn Academy to thrive both technically and organizationally.

UTeachOn Academy delivers a comprehensive blend of educational and consulting services tailored for today’s fast-evolving digital landscape. On the education side, the Academy offers beginner-to-advanced courses — including web development, foundational programming, secure software design, and cloud technologies — all aimed at helping learners build in-demand skills and transition into tech careers. Learners receive guidance on navigating career changes into IT, contribute to real-world projects, and gain exposure to modern industry practices. On the consulting side, UTeachOn Academy incorporates secure cloud design principles, identity management, data protection and AWS best practices into all its development and modernization projects. Their technical approach prioritizes secure architectures, compliance awareness and protected integrations that align with the needs of education and public-sector organizations.

Sana and Hussain guide each client through a structured process that includes discovery and requirements gathering, system design and planning, development, verification and validation, deployment and training, and long-term maintenance and continuous improvement. This lifecycle ensures clarity, structure, and reliable outcomes as clients move from idea to implementation.

Reclaiming Confidence Through Education and Entrepreneurship

Sana’s passion for growth is at the heart of the business. As she balances her role at UTeachOn Academy, family life, and her studies in Business Management at Metropolitan Community College, she continues to rediscover her abilities and leadership strengths. Returning to school has revived her confidence and helped her build new tools for guiding the company forward.

This mission of empowerment keeps Sana motivated and fuels the Academy’s commitment to community engagement.

Growing Through Persistence and Adaptation

Like many small businesses, UTeachOn Academy has faced challenges. Securing clients, particularly within the state and federal government, requires patience and compliance with extensive regulations. Marketing continues to evolve as they rely on online visibility, virtual meetings, and consistent outreach.

Despite these hurdles, the growth has been significant. The company has expanded into cloud and AI services, supported by Hussain’s new AWS AI certification. Sana has seen her own leadership and communication skills strengthen through school and community involvement.

Building a Business With the Help of Community Champions

Sana credits much of her progress to the entrepreneurial resources available in Omaha, especially the support she received from the Grow Nebraska Women’s Business Center. Through BAIL hours and networking events, she discovered a strong network of mentors and business development tools that continue to help her shape UTeachOn Academy’s direction.

GNWBC provides guidance, connections, and encouragement that reminds her she does not need to build her business alone. Sana often says that just as it takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a village to grow a business. Omaha’s collaborative ecosystem has been that village for her.

Innovating Forward: What’s Next for the Academy

As UTeachOn Academy continues to evolve, Sana and Hussain are planning deeper expansion into AI services, broader outreach to state agencies and higher education institutions, and continued refinement of their software and consulting offerings. They remain committed to responsible innovation, always applying strong validation and security principles to their work.

Their journey serves as a reminder that it is never too late to learn, grow, or build something new. Sana encourages others to seek education, find community support, and take bold steps toward their dreams.
