When Kofi Douhadji retires from the United States Air Force on April 1, 2026, he will enter a new phase of a career that has already crossed continents, industries, and cultural boundaries. His path from Togo to Omaha includes multiple fields: entrepreneurship, military service, authorship, and now financial education. His mission is clear: to build a world-class firm that expands financial opportunity for French-speaking immigrants.
Flying Wings LLC, the company he founded, began as a publishing initiative and has since grown into a consulting firm focused on personal finance and investment education. Kofi recognizes that many immigrants arrive with strong work ethics, resourcefulness, and ambition, but also face the challenge of navigating a complex financial system that operates in a language they are still mastering. He often explains that a new immigrant can spend eight to twelve years before becoming completely comfortable with English and his goal is to provide guidance to demystify financial tools, bridge knowledge gaps, and give immigrants the confidence to build wealth strategically.
From Togo to the Great Plains: Experience Behind the Mission
Kofi’s entrepreneurial journey began long before his military career. In his early years in the US, he ran a small landscaping business, learning through real-world trial and discovery. Later, while serving in the Air Force, he earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. His experiences showed him how important financial knowledge is, not just because sometimes people are uninformed, but especially because systems differ across countries, and information isn’t always equally accessible.
Along the way he also observed a common theme. Hard work alone was not producing stability for many families around him, particularly within immigrant communities. He often repeats the proverb, “If hard work alone were enough, the donkey would own the farm.” For Kofi, this message became a foundation for his financial teaching. Working hard is admirable, but it is not a system. A system requires knowledge, planning, and an understanding of how money functions in the broader economy.
His best-selling French-language book, “My First Step into the Stock Market,” grew from this insight. The book provides clear explanations of investing principles and addresses common questions he encountered from French-speaking readers, including how U.S. retirement accounts—like 401(k)s—are structured. Since July 2025, the book has sold over 3,500 copies and earned bestseller status on Amazon.
Kofi has also authored three additional books:
- Unbroken Optimist – a memoir on resilience and steady personal growth. This book is now being considered as a must-read in the US American education system.
- Tiny Sparks – a “life toolbox” that encourages reflection and meditation that will empower you to face each challenge with gratitude, optimism, and resilience.
- Roots and Fruits – a reflection on heritage, values, and long-term success.
Each book adds to his larger mission to empower readers through accessible, culturally relevant insights.
Building a Digital Community Through Trust and Connection
Kofi has built a strong digital presence to reach the communities he serves. Over 200,000 followers engage with his TikTok platform, where he shares approachable explanations of financial concepts, answers questions, and discusses topics that many people—regardless of background—find confusing or overwhelming.
He uses LinkedIn to connect with the publishing and professional community, while TikTok serves as the central hub for Flying Wings LLC’s client engagement. The questions he receives reflect the reality that the U.S. financial system can feel unfamiliar to newcomers, not because they lack ability, but because the terminology, rules, and expectations differ from what they have known in their home countries.
Through the military’s Transition Assistance Program, Kofi learned about the Grow Nebraska Women’s Business Center and gained valuable connections and legal guidance that helped shape Flying Wings into a structured and sustainable business. Kofi stresses that GNWBC is for any entrepreneur: men and women alike.
Entrepreneurship Expanded: The dooko Clothing Brand
Kofi’s interests extend beyond finance. Seven years ago, he launched dooko, a clothing brand inspired by an ancient Greek word connected to continuous improvement. The brand reflects his belief in steady progress, an idea that informs all of his work.
Despite competition from large athletic brands, he continues to grow dooko with new designs and partnerships that highlight creativity and athleticism. Each entrepreneurial step, whether clothing, coaching, or consulting, deepens the experience he brings to the communities he supports.
A New Chapter After Military Service
As he approaches retirement, Kofi is preparing Flying Wings LLC for expansion. The immediate goals for Flying Wings include enhancing executive coaching programs and beginning a schedule of public speaking engagements. His coaching work focuses on resilience, leadership, and financial habits that support long-term stability.
Writing also remains a central passion. In addition to the books he has already released, he continues to work on new manuscripts and frequently reminds emerging authors that meaningful impact often builds gradually over time.
A Model for Inclusive Financial Education
Kofi’s work represents a growing movement among immigrant entrepreneurs who are building culturally informed solutions to complex economic barriers. Language affects financial participation, and financial participation affects long-term opportunity. Flying Wings sits at that intersection.
His approach blends cultural awareness, practical instruction, and motivational coaching. Rather than emphasizing what people don’t know, he highlights what they can achieve with clear, accessible tools and supportive guidance. Kofi wants to ensure that more families understand the rules well enough to create lives that do not depend solely on effort but on informed strategy. For him, knowledge is not only power. It is the starting point for financial independence.
